Sorry for my delay in responding, Heather! We use Math-U-See for math. For language, do you mean world language or language arts (composition, grammar, etc.)? I'm assuming you mean language arts, so I'll answer that way. We are using Mater Lingua's Language Lessons From Literature and Simply Charlotte Mason's Spelling Wisdom & Using Language Well. I like those books combined to get a good mix of grammar, composition, and prepared dictation. Prepared dictations tackles vocabulary, spelling, grammar, and syntax through beautiful input. All of the language practice comes through studying passages of Scripture, poetry, speeches, and literature. No worksheets or sentence diagramming around these parts! Jane and Walter are also doing the Institute for Excellence in Writing's U.S. History-Based Writing Lessons through our weekly co-op. Let me know if you have any follow-up questions!
Congrats on a new homeschool year! You make everything sound wonderful, mine aren't old enough for homeschool yet but you're tempting me...please continue sharing!
Thanks, Anna! I'll definitely keep posting, and I'll definitely keep it real by saying that it's not all rainbows and butterflies at our house. Ha! However, I will say that we wholeheartedly embrace this lifestyle and have no intention to return to traditional school any time soon. I hope I'll get to see more of you in the comments!
What curriculum are you using for math and language with your 7th and 8th graders?
